Amidst acres of lush land overlooking picturesque Lake Eulalia, Thurston House Bed and Breakfast is sure to please! Built in 1885 and completely restored in 1991, the inn combines all the charm of a period Queen Anne Victorian Farmhouse with the modern room amenities of a fine, small hotel. The wraparound porch is an inviting respite after a busy day. From rocking chairs guests can relax watching the cardinals chase each other from tree to tree. The osprey also entertain, showing off their fishing abilities as they catch their dinner. For the more adventurous there are meandering walking paths around the property. An herb garden, many camellia bushes, and several fruit trees complete the surroundings.

Just minutes to wonderful restaurants, fantastic shopping areas, and magnificent museums, Thurston House Bed and Breakfast offers the best of both worlds. Many business centers are just a short drive away. Downtown Orlando is only a ten minute drive, and the attractions area (Sea World, Disney) is thirty minutes away. Several state parks are within thirty minutes, and East coast beaches are but an hours drive. This makes Thurston House a perfect, central location for exploring lovely Central Florida!

All rooms are on the second floor and have a private bath, queen-sized bed, individual air/heat control, desk, phone with modem hookup, TV/VCR/DVD w/cable, and CD player. Each room is named after one of the previous owners of this lovely home.

Guest Rooms

The O'Heir Room

Named after the fourth family, this is the only accommodation overlooking the lake. This room boasts a polygonal bay window decorated with lace curtains, allowing filtered sunlight in. The reproduction iron sleigh bed is angled so you can enjoy the view, but also be able to see the TV/VCR hidden in the beautiful armoire. The fireplace is filled with candles for a romantic ambiance. The bath has a standard size tub with shower and tile surround. Decorated in deep maroon with accents of white. $180

The Hirsch Room

The most romantic room and named after the second family, this accommodation overlooks the side grounds with one window peeking at Lake Eulalia. The four poster bed, matching highboy and two wing chair/ recliners add to the ambiance. The fireplace filled with candles is easily seen from the bed. The bathroom boasts the original restored claw foot tub with a modern shower. Decorated in deep blue with accents of red and white. $180

Guest Rooms

The Cubbedge Room

Named after the third family, this room has a beautiful view of the side yard and herb garden. Decorated in a deep tan with green and black accents, this classic style room has a cream color reproduction iron bed and pine bureau. A recliner tucked into the windowed corner makes for a peaceful place to read or catch up on your next days business plans. The bathroom has a standard size tub with shower and tile surround. $180

Policies

Rates are for one or two people, and include breakfast and a complimentary late afternoon beverage with cheese plate. Sorry, but we cannot accommodate more than two guests per room. Rates are subject to change without notice. Special events and holidays may have higher prices, and may have a minimum stay requirement.

Thurston House is not appropriate for children under the age of 12. Pets cannot be accommodated.

Smoking is not allowed in the building. There are places on the downstairs porch that have ashtrays. Guests that do not respect this will be charged for the rest of their reservation and will be asked to leave. There will also be an additional cleaning charge of $50 to remove the odor.

Gift certificates are available. "Thurston Dollars" are also available, in any dollar amount you wish. Both of these can only be used towards guest accommodations, are non-refundable and are good for one year.

To confirm a reservation, a one nights deposit on a credit card is required. Cancellations must be made at least five days prior to the check-in day to get a credit for the deposit and avoid being charged the full amount of the reservation. Cancellations made within the five days are subject to all charges if the room remains unrented. Early check-outs are subject to charges for the full amount owed if the room remains unrented.

Check-in Sunday thru Thursday is 4pm-7pm. Check-in Friday & Saturday is 3pm-6pm. Check-out all days is 11am. Early or late check-in or check-out is by prior arrangement only and may not be able to be accommodated.

Directions

From the north: Travel Rt. I-4 West - Take exit #90, Maitland Blvd. At bottom of exit go left. Go over I-4 and take the first right - Sandspur. Go to the stop and go right - still Sandspur. Go to light and go left - Wymore. Follow to light and go left - Kennedy Blvd. (this turns into our street - Lake Avenue). We are just over 1/2 mile down on the left. There is a small Thurston House sign and our mailbox with the numbers #851. You will not see us until you turn in!

From the South or West: I-4 East to Exit 88 - Lee Rd. At bottom of exit, go right, then immediately get in the left lane to go left on Wymore. Follow to the first light - go right on Kennedy (Kennedy turns into Lake Ave in Maitland). From the time you turn right, we are just over 1/2 of a mile down on the left. There is a very small Thurston House sign & our mailbox with the numbers #851. You will NOT see us until you turn in.

From the Orlando International Airport: Out of the airport take Rt.#436 North (Semoran Blvd.); go for just over 6 miles. Get on Rt.#408 West (formally East-West Expy). There will be a $.75 toll. Follow on this road for 4-1/2 miles. Get on Rt.#I-4 East (towards Daytona); follow for 5-1/2 miles. Get off at Exit #88 - Lee Rd. At the bottom of the exit go right, then immediately get in the left lane to take a left at the light - Wymore Rd. Follow for just under a mile and take a right at the first light - Kennedy Blvd. (This turns into Lake Avenue in Maitland). From the time you turn right onto Kennedy we are just over 1/2 mile on the left. There is a VERY small "Thurston House" sign, & our mailbox with the numbers #851. You will NOT see us until you turn in.
